Hey there kids come gather round
We’re gonna take a trip back in history
It all started in 1842 when
Sir Richard Owen unveiled a mystery
He was digging in the dirt and found some fossils
Of giant lizards, oh boy! They were colossal
Now we know that those things were dinosaurs
Let’s flash back 200 million years and we’ll hear them roar
Dinosaurs came in all different shapes and sizes
Some walked on all fours and some walked on their hind legs
Some were carnivores on the hunt with sharp teeth and
Shredding other dinosaurs to itty bitty pieces
The rest were herbivores eating plants and being prey
Despite their differences, they all came from an egg
Some were clever, some were dumb, some had feathers, some had none
A fun fact for everyone is we all shared the same sun

Long, long ago they roamed and called this earth their own
But now they’re nothing but dust and bones
To fast in a flash they were dead
Life is precious never forget

So many types, high heights and big bites
Hot dog they are all definitely dino-mite
Am I right? They’re fantastic, I’m enthusiastic
Jurassic, Triassic, lets talk about the classics
Triceratops put his enemies to bed
This horny hunk of history had three on his head
Stegosaurus sets the table for us, plates on his vertebrae
Tail spikes might do more damage than his walnut brain
Out in the forest is the Ankylosaurus
He’s clubbing all night and he’s dressed like a fortress
Tyrannosaurus Rex is the next to dissect
King of the lizards, requesting respect
From the long necks who stretch to the trees for food
Bronto, Brachio, Dreadnaughtus too
The raptor may have been a bird of prey that never even flew
But the point is you’re alive when they start to eat you

Okay kids settle down, I’m wanna tell you how the story ends
It sure is sad but don’t forget to share what you’ve learned with your friends
It was 66 million years ago to the day
That all the dinosaurs were erased
From the face of the earth in a mass extinction
Well how did this happen? Scientist are thinking
Maybe it was some sort of disease
Or there wasn’t enough food on the trees
Or a meteor crashed down from space
Or dinosaurs are just so cool they caused the ice age
